Hey everyone!!! Happy New Year!

I think that this would be beneficial for everyone that is new to the frag swaps, like myself, and maybe for someone who is making a descent road trip to this up coming frag swap.

I was wondering if some of you guys who plan on bringing some of your frags, can actually give us some info on what you plan on bringing or what we should expect to be there. If you could also give a price range on what to expect... that would be great.

I live in st pete and its going to be about a 2.5-3 hour drive there. I just dont know what i should expect.

Thanks everyone!!!

I agree. I would like to know a few things myself.

1. Is it a swap only or is cash good too.

2. If I bring some frags - Where do I keep them? Just in the bags?

Thanks.

As far as the swap format, the transaction between you and the other reefers are up to you. I would expect that about 75% of the transactions would involve cash.

As for what I am bringing:

ORA German Blue digitata
Orange digi with green base.
Neon green polyped toad stool
Some really fast growing green acropora (Polyps are forest green)
Some green/blue (color hard to determine) acro frags
Teal acro/tort (I think its a tort) frag

Can possibly bring, but will be smaller frags:
ORA Blue Millie
ORA Blue/Green Tort
Green slimer
Blue tenius

For price, I would expect everything I have, I will sell for between $10 and $20 based on type/size of frag. My wife will probably handle the transactions for me, since I am sure I will be busy attending to swap things.

This is my planned list. However, since I'm still recovering from a coral spawning event and a complete system overhaul, I may leave a few out if they look bad. Almost all of the parent colonies and frags have recovered. The notable exceptions being my Idaho Grape and red Cap. Idaho frags look ok, not best color and the parent colony looks awful. Red Cap is the opposite....parent colony has bounced back and the frags look terrible. As for price, I'll be anywhere from $5 to $50. Pics are in my clubs gallery at www.swfmas.com/v/users/jdhuyvetter/

Montipora capitata
Acropora millepora - Aquarium City Red
Acropora unknown - aka Jeff's skinny stag
Acropora unknown - aka Jeff's fat stag
Acropora nana - GARF Tricolor
Acropora unknown - green stag, not slimer, but similar
Seriatopora hystrix? - Green Polyp Birdsnest
Montipora digitata - German blue digitata
Montipora undata - Idaho Grape
Acropora unknown - Yellow bottlebrush, very limited quantity, small frags, tabling
Echinora llamelosa - Baby blue chalice
Pocillipora sp. - Tricolor pocillipora
Hydnophora sp. - Green hydnophora - only one accidental frag, fully healed
Montipora capricornis - Red cap, many, many frags of all sizes
Montipora sp. - Green plating montipora,
Yellow colonial polyps
Mushrooms, I have about 6 different varieties, usually have many available

I plan on bringing some nice zoanthids, including:

Devils Armors
Armor of Gods
Mangoes
Dragon Eyes

...To name a few.

Depending on type/size ill probably be looking for $5 - $20 / frag.

Definately will be interested in swapping (being that it is a 'swap')and buying some of the other corals listed above.

Already see some SPS on husky's and jdhuyvetter's lists that are coming home with me! I'm not going to bring anything myself, was going to but decided the it wasn't worth it since I only have a few zoa frags and a ric or two in my prop tank. Will come and hopefully leave with some money still in my pocket! laugh.gif

Not sure about the red planets, keep in mind they have only been out for a few months, so they are probably just getting settled into peoples tanks.

Well, I've got good news and bad news. Good news is that almost all of the corals in my display tank have bounced back from the coral spawning event. Bad news is that the frag tank has not (even though they are plumbed into the same system). I think part of my problem is that I completely redid my filtration and frag system over the Christmas/New Years holiday. Frag tank temporarily is lit with a bunch of "hand me down" lights. It will be another month before I get the permanent lighting installed. I will still be bringing a lot of corals, but they will not be at their best color. I'll have a photo album of the parent colonies with me.

That is good news for buyers is that the price will reflect this.

any chance people would post what kinda corals they're looking for...aka zoas, shrooms, leathers, sps, chalice's, etc etc. it'd help me decide on what to bring as I don't want to bring like 5 garf bonsai's and sell none. or bring super expensive rare stuff only to find out people were looking for cheaper stuff.

so...what are you guys looking for?
